Allegan Flea Market

Driving down country roads..

Through small towns...

Destination?  Allegan Antique Market held the last Sunday of the month!
Yes.... we finally made it arriving a half hour after it opened.

And this show is one that will be marked on the calendar for more visits!!
Let me show you why!

Side note- I have to say it's reeeeally hard to think about taking photos when little pretties are being dangled in front of you!  When you know that your eyes need to be peeled for those treasures that are not in plain sight but are
intermingled with other things that distract you.  Add to that, the person
beside you who is chomping at the bit to snag it for themselves!  It takes
strength and determination... an iron will.. to do this, people!  Ha, ha... it's a
job but someone's got to do it.  Might as well be ME!!

Now who wouldn't get excited about going through gates that have a giant
rooster on the roof???!!!!  This is going to be a good day!

Grab your shopping cart and let's get started....................................

Great use for pie tins.  I can see that on a studio table loaded with jewelry bits.. or perhaps buttons... or paint bottles standing tall... or crystal salt shakers, with gleaming silver tops, filled with glass glitter!

Being a paper freak, I had to take more than one picture of these..
darling, aren't they?  This woman's booth already had a shop owner in it picking out things.  With finger pointed, I kept hearing her say, "I'll take that.... and that... and set that one aside for me, will you?"

I have a box of these at home.. I will have to put that on my list of things to do with them.  Of course, adding my own tweak!

The rust... the color.... need I say more??

Years ago, I repurposed an old commode but never thought of this idea!

Remember my side note?  This was a prime example.  The dealer noted that the paper was original to the box and as I'm snapping away I must have been
driving this other woman crazy.  Just as I turned to walk away, she snagged it!
She scored and knew it!

As you know, paper ... journals.... one of my first passions!

I ADORE this!
Can't you just see this in the garden?  What would YOU plant in it??

                                   Ahhh.... american pride!

Small towns ... people gathered searching for treasures .... friendly people, at
that!... time to sit a spell and just take it all in!  Lucky, aren't we???

  1. Have you been to Sandwich? This reminds me of Sandwich....we so have to get together. I am so excited to meet you. Your blog is lovely!

  2. Yes, years ago when we first moved to the Chicago area! I had heard so much about it that I went with a friend but since, have not gone back. I should check their schedule and see when the next one is. Thanks for dropping by, Hope!

  3. That looks like an awesome flea market. So much great stuff. Love the old paper bundles and those cakestands? in the first photo - would be perfect with lace on too - yummi
No wonder you need to go back.
Now I have to see if I can find one in my area to visit today :-)

    1. That's a great idea, Tina, to display laces on the cake stands~ so many great uses for that! I swear I am getting so addicted to the fleas again. I'm in the process of planning a master trip in September. I'll keep you posted if I follow through with it!

  4. Kadee,

Thanks for your recent visits & comments! I would love to meet you in person at one of Diana Frey's classes!!! She is such an amazing teacher & you will just adore her!

Now, let's talk about goodies! You saw some great stuff at this show. I LOVE to wander in places like this. The problem... I BUY!!!! And I'm running out of room for "STUFF". Guess I need a bigger storage building. Hee Hee! Have a great week.

  5. The buying can be an issue! But what a problem to have! LOL

  6. Looks like you were there in July, Kadee! I was, too! I kept looking in your photos for my mug in case you snapped me scurrying by with my arms loaded with treasures. hehehe! We'll definitely have to meet up next summer, girlie! Michelle always looks for beachy/nautical decor, you'll have your paper goodies to keep your eyes peeled for, and I'll be searching for boho stuff. Nooooo problems with fights over treasures here! lol!

    xoxo laurie
