An Arting Tote

Spellcheck refuses to recognize the word "Arting" tote, but I know it exists!

After all, I made one!  tee, hee!!  It's one of my latest creations and I

wanted to share it with all of you as it just tickles my fancy!  Measuring

7" wide by 16" long, it's the perfect size to pack up your basic art supplies.

Made from an old coin bag, which I stained in coffee to give it a richer

quality, I began sorting through my collection of bits and pieces to see

how I could make it come to life.

A scrap of black drapery fabric....

a mix of different colored vintage laces....

a soft, silky, shell pink fabric flower (talk about alliteration!!) to contrast with

the sturdiness of the canvas...

leather handles with mismatched black button detailing....

my arting tote now boasted its own personality!  Ready to be put to use!

Ruler, glue, scissors.....

a collection of buttons and pearls.... embroidery floss....

paint brushes of various widths.... and there's still room for more!!

I really look forward to making another one as this one was sent on its

way to a crafting event supporting breast cancer.  A raffle prize!  If you

you were the winner, what would you put in it?

  4. This is so pretty. Goodness, what wouldn't I put in this cuteness? I don't like to leave home without my Pitt pens, a sketch pad, and a travel watercolor kit with a little vial of water. Unfortunately, knowing me, I would spill coffee on it or one of the kids would step on it with muddy cleats if I ever actually used it. I think I might hang it up and admire it instead!

    1. Since I already stained it with coffee, what would one more mark do to it??!! LOL Yes, being the mother of boys comes with issues such as just zoning out when they are around our stuff. After all, to them it would be just "stuff". And yes, Jenny, I could see all those things inside of yours! I love your creativity!!

  5. Kadee....That is beautiful indeed, I love the size. You make such beautiful things. I was talking with Charlene Gray about how I got to meet you again (Briefly) at Art-is-you, and what a wonderful person you are. So so adores you and said you are a great artist. I hope to meet you again and spend more time getting to know you. Charlene, Cindy and Joy would love for you to meet us when you come again to Calif and we are all together. Hugs Vickie

  11. WOW! That is so cool! I love that you used an old coin bag...did you add the handles yourself then? Was it difficult? JUST STUNNING!

    1. Yes.... I made the handles myself from bins of leather that I had purchased years ago at a garage sale. They aren't difficult to make but that is why I need a new machine. My fun little one has had this conversation with me saying it just won't do it anymore. Silly machine!! Thanks for dropping by, Rae!

  12. Definitely for me it would hold something that I deemed a treasure, nothing else would be good enough for such a lovely tote. I would display it where others could see and admire its beauty.

    :) Hope
